Pilots Open RRAC Play with 3-0 Win Over A&M–Victoria

Shreveport, La. – LSU Shreveport opened Red River Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 win over Texas A&M–Victoria on Thursday afternoon at The Swamp.

The Pilots (2-5, 1-0 RRAC) set the tone in the first half with two goals before halftime. Jade Derks put LSUS in front in the 20th minute off an assist from Halee Hernandez. Annabell Veryard doubled the advantage in the 34th minute, then struck again just after the break with her second goal of the day in the 49th minute, assisted by Derks.

Texas A&M–Victoria (3-2-2, 0-1 RRAC) generated opportunities throughout the match, but LSU Shreveport goalkeeper Elena Lopez tallied eight saves to secure her second clean sheet of the season. On the other end, Jaguars goalkeeper Jamie Noriega finished with 10 saves to keep her side within reach.

The Pilots return to The Swamp on Saturday, Sept. 27, to continue conference play against North American University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
