Pilots Set Battle with Northwestern Ohio in NAIA Women’s Soccer First Round

SHREVEPORT, La. — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's soccer team is set to take the national stage as they face the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) in the First Round of the 2024 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship, presented by Select Sport America. The Pilots will take on the Racers on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. (CT) in the Campbellsville Bracket hosted by Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Ky.

The Pilots (12-2-0) enter the tournament after an impressive campaign that saw them claim the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Regular Season title. LSUS dominated league play with a 12-1-0 record, with their sole regular-season loss coming in a 4-2 contest against (RV) Xavier (La.). While the Pilots fell short in the RRAC Tournament Semifinals, losing 3-1 to LSU Alexandria, their strong season secured them an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.

Their opponent, the UNOH Racers (14-3-2), reached the tournament as runners-up in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament. UNOH fell to No. 5 Aquinas in the WHAC championship on penalty kicks after a thrilling battle on Nov. 13. Thursday's match marks the first-ever meeting between the Pilots and the Racers.

As the No. 2 seed in the bracket, the Pilots will look to leverage their attacking prowess and disciplined defense against the Racers. A victory would set up a Second Round matchup against host and top-seeded Campbellsville University on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. (CT). The winner of the bracket will advance to the NAIA Final Site in Pensacola, Florida, continuing the journey toward a national title.
