Pilots Fall Short in RRAC Championship Match, 2-0

TEXARKANA, Texas – The LSU Shreveport women's soccer team came up short in its bid for the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament title, falling 2-0 to Xavier University of Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon at Judy Kelley Morgan Field.

The Gold Nuggets struck early when Keira Hardstaff scored in the 17th minute off an assist from Anita Roese to put Xavier ahead 1-0. Roese added another just before halftime in the 45th minute, this time assisted by Juliana Kottbauer, to make it 2-0.

Despite the deficit, the Pilots continued to battle throughout the second half, applying pressure and creating chances but were unable to find the back of the net. Elena Lopez went the full 90 minutes in goal for LSUS, recording four saves while allowing two goals. Luisa Bella tallied four saves for Xavier to earn the clean sheet.

With the loss,  the RRAC Regular Season Champions are hopeful for an at-large bid in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament.
