Pilots Power Past North American, 11-2, to Stay Perfect in RRAC Play

SHREVEPORT, La. – The LSU Shreveport women's soccer team exploded offensively in The Swamp on Saturday afternoon, rolling to an 11-2 victory over North American University in Red River Athletic Conference action. The win lifts the Pilots to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in RRAC play, while NAU falls to 0-9 on the season and 0-3 in conference competition.

LSUS wasted no time setting the tone. Just two minutes in, Ella White finished off a feed from Jade Derks to open the scoring. The Pilots doubled the advantage in the 9th minute when Martina Bonilla converted a setup from Derks. Lauren Mercer extended the margin in the 17th, assisted by Annabell Veryard.

North American briefly cut into the deficit in the 26th minute with a strike from Genevieve Colon, but Derks answered quickly with a goal of her own in the 28th. Alia Sanchez, with an assist from Mada Uriarte, added another for the Pilots in the 43rd minute. Colon tallied her second just before halftime to make it 5-2 at the break.

The second half was all LSUS. Veryard struck in the 52nd minute, followed by Laura Kucharz in the 59th off a pass from Ashlin Fuentes. White notched her brace in the 62nd before Ashley Moore (72'), Uriarte (73' – assisted by Moore), and Jillian Rogers (81') capped the scoring in emphatic fashion.

In goal, Elena Lopez (3-5) worked 70 minutes and made two saves, while Celina Olivera closed out the final eight minutes. NAU goalkeeper Arely Sarabia (0-9) went the distance, finishing with 12 saves despite facing relentless pressure.

The Pilots will now look to carry their momentum on the road, traveling to Hobbs, N.M. to face the University of the Southwest on Thursday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
