Pilots Fall on the Road to USAO

CHICKASHA, Okla. – LSU Shreveport women's soccer dropped a 4-0 decision to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Saturday night in Chickasha, Okla. The result moves the Pilots to 0-3 on the season.

Despite the scoreline, the Pilots continued to generate opportunities in the attack. Junior forward Ashlin Fuentes led the way with a team-high three shots, including one on target, as LSUS pressed to find an opening against the USAO back line.

In goal, Elena Lopez (0-3) put together a four-save effort for the Pilots, holding strong through long stretches of the match as the Drovers capitalized on their chances.

USAO broke through early when Ashlee Davison finished a pass from Ashlyn Lonberg in the ninth minute. The Drovers doubled their advantage before halftime on a strike from Ilse de Jong in the 33rd. In the second half, USAO added to its lead as Makenzie Weddle connected off an assist from Chiara Morel in the 76th minute, and Daniela Salinas capped the scoring in the 82nd, set up by Paula Casajus.

LSUS now shifts focus to its next matchup, a Labor Day road contest against Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.
