SHREVEPORT, LA — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's soccer team secured the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Regular Season Championship on Saturday afternoon with a commanding 5-1 victory over Jarvis Christian University. With this win, the Pilots close out the regular season with a program-best 15-3 overall record and a stellar 12-1 record in RRAC play.
The Pilots took control early, with Jade Derks opening the scoring off an assist from Maja Nikolic. Later in the first half, Diana Godines extended the lead, finding the back of the net unassisted.
LSUS continued their momentum after the halftime break. Dawniella Torres scored just minutes into the second half off an assist from Alba Martinez-Alvarez, putting the Pilots up 3-0. Torres then added two more goals to complete her hat trick—her second goal assisted by Yuvia Vazquez (22') and her final goal assisted by Genna White.
With the win, the Pilots clinched their place atop the conference standings and will host an opening-round match of the RRAC Women's Soccer Tournament. LSUS is set to play Texas A&M University-San Antonio on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 1 P.M. at The Swamp.
