Pilots Soar Past Louisiana Christian, 3-1

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana State University-Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots women's soccer team secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Louisiana Christian University (LCU) on Saturday afternoon, extending their strong run in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). With the win, LSUS improves to 10-3-0 overall and 7-1-0 in conference play.

The Pilots broke through in the 54th minute when Juliana Anchondo found the back of the net, giving LSUS a 1-0 lead. Just five minutes later, Diana Godines doubled the Pilots' advantage, scoring off a well-placed assist from Alba Martinez Alvarez in the 59th minute.

The scoring continued in the 67th minute when Gemma White added a third goal for LSUS, capitalizing on an assist from Yuvia Vasquez to give the Pilots a commanding 3-0 lead.

Louisiana Christian's Maryane Mafra managed to pull one back for the Wildcats in the 70th minute, scoring off an assist from Maria Alonso, but it wasn't enough to overcome LSUS's dominance.

In goal for LSUS, Melanie Garcia put in a stellar performance, playing the full 90 minutes and securing seven saves to anchor the Pilots' defense. For LCU, Jaycee Woods also played the entire match, recording two saves.

The Pilots will return to action on Thursday, October 17, when they take on the University of the Southwest at The Swamp. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
