Torres and Pilots Capitalize Early in 2-0 Shutout Against LSUA

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over Louisiana State University Alexandria (LSUA) on Thursday afternoon, advancing to a 9-3-0 overall record and 6-1-0 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC).

The Pilots struck early in the 11th minute when a misplay by LSUA goalkeeper Victoria Weber resulted in an own goal, giving LSUS a 1-0 lead. LSUS extended their lead in the 18th minute when Dawniella Torres found the back of the net, assisted by Yuvia Vasquez and Juliana Anchondo.

LSUS goalkeeper Melanie Garcia had a quiet but solid performance, recording one save during the match. Meanwhile, LSUA's Weber was tested throughout, making six saves during her 90 minutes on the field.

The Pilots will look to continue their winning streak as they head to Pineville, La., on Saturday, Oct. 12, to face Louisiana Christian University. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
