Pilots Fall to XULA at The Swamp, 4-2

Shreveport, La. – The LSUS women's soccer team battled hard but fell 4-2 against Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) on Thursday afternoon at The Swamp. Despite a valiant effort, the Pilots couldn't overcome the Gold Nuggets' early offensive surge.

XULA opened the scoring with Samira Roper finding the back of the net in the 11th minute. Luci Schroeder added another goal in the 49th minute, and Julia de Souza scored in the 63rd minute. Roper netted her second goal just two minutes later in the 65th minute to extend XULA's lead.

The Pilots responded in the second half, with Diana Godines putting LSUS on the board in the 63rd minute. Juliana Anchondo followed up with a late goal in the 88th minute, but time ran out before LSUS could close the gap further.

Goalkeepers Karina Correa (6-1-0) and Melanie Garcia split time in goal for LSUS. Correa made three saves but took the loss, while Garcia contributed two saves. XULA's Theresa Wiesiolek (3-1-0) held strong in net, finishing with three saves for the Gold Nuggets.

The Pilots will be back on the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 5, as they host North American University at The Swamp. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. as LSUS looks to get back on track.
