Shreveport, LA – The LSUS Pilots women's soccer team made a powerful statement in their opening conference match, defeating the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) Saints 4-0 on their home turf at The Swamp to move their overall record to 4-2 and Red River record to 1-0.
From the outset, the Pilots displayed a relentless offensive strategy. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Juliana Anchondo found the back of the net, marking her fourth goal of the season. The home crowd erupted, sensing a strong performance ahead.
The Pilots maintained momentum into the second half, with Gisell Jimenez scoring in the 58th minute to double the lead. Just moments later, Anchondo struck again in the 62nd minute, bringing her tally to five for the season and solidifying the Pilots' dominance.
The final goal came in the 71st minute from Jade Derks, assisted by Diana Godines, sealing a comprehensive victory for LSUS. Despite several attempts from OLLU, the Pilots' defense, anchored by standout goalie Karina Correa, held strong.
The LSUS Pilots improved their record to 1-0 in conference play and look forward to building on this momentum in their next match against Texas A&M San Antonio on Saturday at 1pm.
