Women's Soccer Defeats Texarkana to Advance to RRAC Final

Texarkana, Texas—In a fiercely contested RRAC conference tournament semi-final, the LSU Shreveport Pilots triumphed over the Texas A&M Texarkana Eagles with a hard-fought 1-0 victory. With the win the Pilots hold an overall record of 13-3-3 and advance to the RRAC Championship game.

The Pilots and Eagles battled intensely in the first half, facing both aggression and weather challenges that resulted in a 0-0 tie at halftime. Despite the challenging conditions, the Pilots showcased their offensive abilities by outshooting the Eagles 5 to 1 in the first half. However, the Pilots found themselves at a disadvantage as they received an unfortunate red card just before the end of the first half.

With a one-man advantage, the Eagles applied pressure on the Pilots in the second half. The Pilots resiliently held off the Eagles, and the playing field was leveled when Texarkana received a red card of their own. In the 70th minute, Abbie Rutledge's strategic move drew a foul just outside the 18-yard box, setting the stage for Alba Martinez to step up and score the game-winning goal.

Despite being outshot 4 to 1 in the second half, the Pilots maintained their 1-0 lead, successfully fending off the Eagles' advances. Goalkeeper Carlota Alcalde played a crucial role, making two key saves and securing a clean sheet to prevent the Eagles from leveling the score.

With this hard-earned victory, the Pilots secured their place in the RRAC conference championship final, showcasing resilience, teamwork, and skill on the soccer field. They will face the Generals of rival LSU Alexandria Saturday November 10th at 1:00pm. Kickoff is set from Judy Morgan Field in Texarkana, Texas.
