Alcalde and Torres Named Co-Defensive Players of the Year As Conference Awards Are Released

Texarkana, Texas—The Pilots Women's Soccer team found themselves scattered across the RRAC awards as they were well represented on the All-Conference teams that were released Wednesday night. The Pilots put two members on the First Team, while placing two member on the Second Team, one on the Honorable Mention Team, and one on the All-Freshman Team. Carlota Alcalde and Dawniella Torres were both handed the title of Defensive Player of the Year as the we're named Co-players.
Defensive Player of the Year - Dawniella Torres, Garland Texas and Carlota Alcalde, Valladolid, Spain
Torres is a veteran Pilot that in the 2023 season has shown out. She has nine goals, 11 assists and 29 points on the season as she has paced herself up and down the Pilot wings. Alcalde has been a brick wall for the Pilots as she has been a strong voice in the Pilot back line. She's played in 16 games for the Pilots allowing just 7 goals and having 37 saves. She currently has a season goals allowed average of .447 and a save percentage of .841.

The Pilots will return to action tomorrow in the RRAC Tournament Semifinals at 1:30pm as they look to advance to the championship against previous champion Texas A&M Texarkana.
