LSUS Advances to RRAC Championship with 81-61 Victory Over TAMU-San Antonio

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — LSUS powered past Texas A&M University-San Antonio, 81-61, in the semifinal round of the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday night, securing a spot in the championship game.
Selma Markisic led the charge for the Pilots with a game-high 25 points, adding two rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Helena Galunic recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Alexis Brown contributed 12 points, three assists, and three steals. Racheal Emmanuel dominated inside with a double-double of her own, posting 12 points and 14 boards.
LSUS (26-3) shot 44.3% from the field, 41.4% from beyond the arc, and 53.8% from the free-throw line. The Pilots outrebounded the Jaguars 48-28 and controlled the game in key statistical categories, outscoring TAMUSA 24-7 in points off turnovers, 23-2 in second-chance points, 34-10 in the paint, and 24-8 in bench production.
Natalia Trevino led TAMUSA (18-12) with a double-double, tallying 25 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and four steals. TaMya Whitemon added 12 points for the Jaguars, who finished the game shooting 33.9% from the field, 35.3% from three-point range, and 52.4% from the charity stripe.
With the win, LSUS advances to the RRAC Women's Basketball Championship, where they will face LSU Alexandria on Sunday. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
