Pilots Roll Past Tigers, Advance in RRAC Tournament

SHREVEPORT, La. — The No. 1 LSUS Pilots (25-3) cruised to a commanding 84-61 victory over No. 8 Paul Quinn College (11-17) in the first round of the RRAC Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday evening, securing their spot in the next round.
The Pilots were powered by a well-rounded offensive attack and a relentless defensive effort, led by Paula Gonzalez Herrero, who stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Racheal Emmanuel added 17 points and six rebounds, while Helena Galunic chipped in 16 points and six boards of her own. Vicky Parra controlled the glass with a team-high 11 rebounds, helping LSUS dominate the interior.
LSUS shot 45.2% from the field and capitalized on defensive pressure, turning turnovers into 26 points, while also owning the paint with a 46-28 scoring advantage down low. The Pilots' bench provided a crucial spark, outscoring PQC's reserves 32-8.
On the other side, Canai McPherson led the Tigers with 21 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, while Alura Lofton added 16 points. Adrianna Belton battled inside with 11 rebounds, but Paul Quinn struggled with efficiency, shooting just 34.8% from the field and 25.7% from three.
With this win, LSUS continues their pursuit of an RRAC Tournament title, carrying momentum into the next round.
