Pilots Secure Commanding 69-49 Win Over Wildcats

PINEVILLE, La. — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's basketball team cruised to a convincing 69-49 win over Louisiana Christian University (LCU) on Saturday afternoon in Pineville, La.
Vicky Parra led the way for LSUS, stuffing the stat sheet with 12 points, four rebounds, four steals, and two blocks. Racheal Emmanuel also had a standout performance, finishing with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds while adding three steals and two blocks to her impressive line. Selma Markisic facilitated the offense with five assists, while Paula Gonzalez Herrero provided defensive spark with five steals.
The Pilots' defense held the Wildcats to just 29.5 percent shooting from the field and 22.2 percent from beyond the arc, while forcing LCU into costly turnovers. Offensively, LSUS shot 32.9 percent from the field, 23.1 percent from three-point range, and 64.7 percent from the free-throw line.
LCU was paced by Princis Goff, who finished with a team-high 18 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. McKayla Price added 11 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats, but their efforts were not enough to overcome LSUS' suffocating defense and balanced attack.
The Pilots now set their sights on their next matchup as they travel to face Xavier University (La.) on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
