Pilots Overpower Texas College, 62-39

TYLER, Texas – The LSUS women's basketball team continued their impressive season with a commanding 62-39 win over the Texas College Steers on Tuesday night. With the victory, the Pilots improved to 14-3 overall and 13-1 in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play.
The Pilots were led by a stellar performance from Racheal Emmanuel, who recorded a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds, dominating both ends of the floor. Paula Gonzalez Herrero also delivered a strong showing, adding 13 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Helena Galunic rounded out the top scorers with 12 points and six rebounds, providing a consistent offensive spark for the Pilots.
LSUS showcased their strength on the boards, outrebounding the Steers 47-40, while displaying unselfish play with 20 assists compared to Texas College's 11. The Pilots shot 41 percent from the field, though they struggled at the free throw line, connecting on just 36.4 percent of their attempts.
Defensively, the Pilots stifled the Steers' offense, holding Texas College to just 21.4 percent shooting from the field. Despite their struggles, the Steers were led by Tyler Pyburn, who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds, and Cree McLemore, who added 11 points.
The Pilots will look to carry their momentum into next week as they hit the road to face Xavier University (La.) in New Orleans on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
