LSUS Powers Past Paul Quinn College, 64-40

DALLAS, Texas – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance Thursday night, defeating Paul Quinn College (PQC) 64-40 in Dallas. A stellar all-around effort propelled the Pilots to a decisive victory.
Selma Markisic led the charge for LSUS, putting up a game-high 20 points while adding six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block. Markisic's dominant play set the tone on both ends of the floor, securing the win for the Pilots.
She was joined by Paula Gonzalez Herrero, who contributed nine points, three assists, three steals, and two rebounds. Helena Galunic made her presence felt in the paint, pulling down a team-high eight rebounds, while Alexis Brown's quick hands resulted in four steals, helping to keep the Tigers at bay.
LSUS showcased efficiency on offense, shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 25 percent from beyond the arc, and 56.5 percent from the free throw line. The Pilots' defense was equally impressive, holding PQC to just 23.1 percent shooting from the field and 15 percent from three-point range.
Paul Quinn was led by Canai McPherson, who finished with 11 points, two assists, two steals, and one rebound. Kayla Webster filled the stat sheet with nine points, eight steals, five rebounds, and four assists, while Zaire Brown dominated the boards with a game-high 15 rebounds. Despite their efforts, the Tigers struggled to convert offensively and were unable to keep pace with the Pilots' balanced attack.
The Pilots will look to continue their winning momentum on Saturday, Dec. 7, when they travel to Hobbs, N.M., to take on the University of the Southwest. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
