LSUS Women’s Basketball Defeats Jarvis Christian, 64-50

HAWKINS, Texas – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) women's basketball team continued its strong start in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play, defeating Jarvis Christian University (JCU) 64-50 on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Pilots improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in conference action.

Helena Galunic powered the Pilots with an impressive double-double, scoring a game-high 26 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She was joined by Selma Markisic, who contributed 17 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in a well-rounded performance.

The Pilots finished the game shooting 32.4 percent from the field, 32 percent from beyond the arc, and 75 percent from the free-throw line.

Jarvis Christian was led by Yvonne Forman, who tallied 12 points and eight rebounds, while Shamya Champ added 10 points and four rebounds. The Bulldogs struggled offensively, shooting 28.1 percent from the field, 25.3 percent from three-point range, and 50 percent from the charity stripe.

LSUS' defense played a crucial role in securing the win, holding JCU to under 30 percent shooting and forcing key turnovers in critical moments.

The Pilots will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5:30 p.m., hosting Texas College in The Dock. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food items for free admission as LSUS supports its community during the holiday season.
