Women's Basketball Keep Streak Alive and Advance to RRAC Championship Game

Alexandria, Louisiana— In a dominant display of skill and teamwork, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport soared to an 82-46 victory over the Mustangs of Southwest (NM) in the semifinals of the RRAC Conference tournament, extending their remarkable winning streak to 26 consecutive games. With the win the Pilots move to 28-2 overall and advance to the RRAC Conference Championship.
From the opening tip-off, the Pilots seized control of the game and never looked back, showcasing their talent and determination on both ends of the court.
The Pilots wasted no time in asserting their dominance, opening the game with an explosive first quarter that set the tone for the rest of the contest. Despite a close start in the opening minutes, the Pilots went on an incredible 20-point run to break the game wide open. By the end of the first quarter, they held a commanding 25-4 lead, stifling the Mustangs' offense while capitalizing on scoring opportunities of their own.
In the second quarter, the Mustangs showed signs of life, but the Pilots continued to maintain their stranglehold on the game, adding another 20 points to their total to extend their lead to 45-18 at halftime. Despite the Mustangs' efforts to mount a comeback, the Pilots remained unfazed and continued to execute their game plan with precision.
After halftime, the Pilots refused to let up, coasting through the remainder of the game with a composed and disciplined performance. They added 14 points in the third quarter and 23 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory in emphatic fashion.
Throughout the game, the Pilots demonstrated their offensive prowess, shooting 28-69 from the field with three three-pointers and 23 made free throws. On the defensive end, they held the Mustangs to just 13-56 shooting from the field, with three three-pointers and 17 of 27 made free throws.
Leading the scoring charge for the Pilots were Tiarra Tillison and Tyquanna Ross, who each contributed 12 points. Tillison showcased her shooting touch, going 5-7 from the field with two made three-pointers, while Ross displayed her versatility, recording 3 of 9 field goals and 6 made free throws. Skyler Christmas also made significant contributions with 11 points, while Destanee Roblow led the team on the boards with 11 rebounds.
In a true team effort, every Pilot who stepped foot on the court contributed to the scoring effort, underscoring the depth and talent of the LSU Shreveport roster.
With this commanding victory, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport advanced to the finals of the RRAC Conference tournament, drawing confidence from their dominant performance as they continued their pursuit of postseason success.
The Pilots will be back in action Sunday March 3rd as they take on the Gold Nuggets of Xavier (LA) in the RRAC Conference Tournament Championship. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm CT from the Rapides Coliseum in Alexandria, Louisiana.
