Shreveport, Louisiana— In a fitting conclusion to their conference regular season, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport delivered a dominant performance on Senior Night, cruising to a resounding 101-59 victory over the Tigers of Paul Quinn. With this emphatic win, the Pilots capped off an undefeated conference campaign, notching an impressive 24 straight victories and solidifying their status as a force to be reckoned with in collegiate basketball. The win puts the Pilots to an overall record of 26-2 and a conference record of 22-0. They are the first team in Pilot history across all programs to be undefeated in conference play.
Right from the opening tip-off, the Pilots asserted their dominance on both ends of the court, setting the tone for the game with a commanding display of offensive firepower. In the first quarter, they wasted no time in building a substantial lead, pouring in 24 points while limiting the Tigers to just 13. Shooting 10-20 from the field, including three three-pointers, and converting one free throw, the Pilots showcased their efficiency on offense, leaving the Tigers struggling to keep pace.
The Pilots continued to showcase their offensive prowess in the second quarter, adding another 29 points to their tally and entering halftime with a comfortable 53-30 lead. With precise ball movement and sharpshooting from beyond the arc, the Pilots maintained their momentum and refused to let up as they headed into the locker room.
Despite easing off the gas slightly in the third quarter, the Pilots remained in control of the game, outscoring the Tigers 19-18 to extend their lead even further. In the final quarter, they continued to press their advantage, putting up 29 points while stifling the Tigers' offense to just 11 points, sealing the victory in emphatic fashion.
By the end of the game, the Pilots had put together an impressive offensive showcase, shooting 42-86 from the field, including 12 three-pointers, and converting five free throws. Leading the scoring charge were three seniors who made their mark on Senior Night. Derrica Gilbert led the way with 17 points, showcasing her shooting prowess with three three-pointers. Tanaisha Hairston followed closely behind with 16 points, connecting on four three-pointers of her own. Skyler Christmas and Destanee Roblow each contributed 14 points.
In addition to the standout performances from the seniors, Tyquanna Ross added 12 points and made her presence felt on both ends of the court with six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Senior Tahjea Smith led the team in rebounds, hauling in an impressive 12 boards to anchor the Pilots' dominance in the paint.
With this memorable victory, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport celebrated their seniors in style while reaffirming their status as contenders as they prepare for postseason play.
