Pilots Break All-Time Win Streak with Twentieth Straight Win Over Texarkana

Shreveport, Louisiana— In a historic matchup, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport soared to victory over the Eagles of Texas A&M Texarkana, clinching their 20th consecutive win with an impressive 85-55 triumph. The Pilots etched their name in the annals of basketball history by breaking the record for the longest win streak in program history, a testament to their relentless determination and skill on the court. With the win the Pilots move to an overall record of 22-2 and a conference record of 18-0.

The game began with both teams exchanging baskets and the lead in a closely contested first quarter. However, as the quarter drew to a close, the Pilots surged ahead, putting up six crucial points to take a narrow 18-16 lead. Once they found their rhythm in the second quarter, there was no looking back for the Pilots. They unleashed an offensive onslaught, pouring in 30 points while stifling the Eagles to a mere 7 points. Shooting 11-19 from the field, including two three-pointers, and converting 6-of-7 free throws, the Pilots dominated the second quarter, heading into halftime with a commanding 48-23 lead.

The Pilots maintained their dominance throughout the second half, adding 23 points in the third quarter and another 14 in the fourth. By the end of the game, they had converted 36 of their 80 field goal attempts, including four three-pointers, and capitalized on 9-of-12 free throws. The Eagles, in contrast, struggled to find their rhythm, managing to convert only 22 of their 55 field goal attempts, with five three-pointers and 6-of-12 free throws.

Leading the charge for the Pilots was Skyler Christmas, who delivered a stellar performance with 18 points. Christmas showcased her shooting prowess, going 7-12 from the field, sinking 3 three-pointers, and adding one made free throw. Notably, her last-second buzzer-beater before halftime electrified the crowd and set the tone for the Pilots' dominant display. Joining her in the double-digit scoring column was Destanee Roblow, who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Roblow exhibited her versatility, shooting 7-14 from the field and a perfect 2-2 at the free-throw line. Tyquanna Ross rounded out the trio of Pilots in double figures, contributing 15 points on 6-12 shooting from the field and an efficient 3-4 performance at the free-throw line.

With this historic win, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport solidified their status as a force to be reckoned with in the world of college basketball, leaving an indelible mark on the record books and inspiring future generations with their remarkable achievement.

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday February 15th as they take head down to New Orleans to face the Gold Nuggets of Xavier. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm CT from New Orleans, Louisiana.
