Women's Basketball Breaks Single Game Points For the Second Time This Season

Tyler, Texas—In a commanding display of dominance, the LSU Shreveport Pilots women's basketball team triumphed over the Texas College Steers with a resounding 123-69 victory. With their fourth straight triple digit win the Pilots move to an overall record of 21-2 and a conference record of 17-0. The Pilots have also broken their own single game record for points which they had set back on January 13th also against Texas College. They have also tied the program win streak record at 19 consecutive wins.

 

The Pilots set the tone early, putting up 32 points in the first quarter while holding the Steers to just 15. Shooting 12-19 from the field, including three three-pointers, and making 5-of-6 free throws, the Pilots established a formidable lead.

 

Entering the second quarter with determination, the Pilots continued to widen the gap, adding another 37 points while once again limiting the Steers to 15 points. At halftime, the Pilots held a commanding 69-30 lead.

 

Refusing to relent, the Pilots maintained their intensity in the second half, adding 26 points in the third quarter and 28 points in the fourth quarter. Overall, they shot an impressive 46-77 from the field, including seven three-pointers, and made 24-of-36 free throws.

 

A stellar team effort saw seven Pilots players scoring in double digits. Destanee Roblow led the charge with 22 points, shooting 7-13 from the field and 8-13 at the free-throw line, while also securing a double-double with 11 rebounds. Detrica Gilbert contributed 20 points, shooting 8-10 from the field, including four three-pointers, showcasing her scoring prowess. The collective performance propelled the Pilots to a decisive victory, showcasing their strength and skill on the court.

 

The Pilots will be back in action Tuesday February 13th as they take on the Eagles of Texas A&M Texarkana. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
