Pilots Take Twelfth Conference Win Against Wildcats

Pineville, Louisiana—In an impressive victory, the LSU Shreveport Pilots secured an 86-65 win over the Louisiana Christian Wildcats. With the win the Pilots women's basketball team moves to an overall record of 16-2 and a conference record of 12-0.

 

The first quarter was a closely contested battle, with the Pilots holding a one-point lead at 14-13. The Pilots shot 4-12 from the field and made 6-10 free throws, while the Wildcats were 4-16 from the field with one three-pointer and four made free throws.

 

The Pilots gained momentum in the second quarter, putting up 27 points with ten field goals, including two three-pointers, and five made free throws. This propelled them to a 41-31 lead at halftime. 

 

Although the Wildcats made a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring the Pilots 16-14, the Pilots maintained control. The fourth quarter saw the Pilots pulling away once again, adding 31 points to secure the 86-65 victory. 

 

A balanced offensive effort saw five Pilots scoring in double digits. Destanee Roblow led the team with 15 points, shooting 5-7 from the field and 5-6 from the free-throw line, and contributing 7 rebounds. Derrica Gilbert, Erynn Williams, and Sharayah Johnson each had 12 points, showcasing their scoring prowess. Alexis Brown added 10 points and led the team with six assists, contributing to the well-rounded performance that led to the Pilots' success.

 

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday February 1st as they take on the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
