Pilots Set New Single Game Record with 108-58 Win

Shreveport, Louisiana— In a thrilling matchup, the Pilots women's basketball team soared to victory against the Steers, setting a new single-game record with a dominant 108-58 win. With the win, the Pilots improve to an overall record of 12-2 and a conference record of 7-0.

The first quarter saw both teams battling, but the Pilots finished leading 26-18, outshooting the Steers with 11-of-20 field goals and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. The Pilots continued their impressive performance in the second quarter, adding 22 points while limiting the Steers to just 9. Heading into halftime with a commanding 48-27 lead, the Pilots showcased their offensive prowess.

The second half saw the Pilots maintaining their momentum, accumulating another 60 points while restricting the Steers to 31.  

A balanced offensive effort saw five Pilots players reaching double digits. Tyquanna Ross led the charge, scoring 9-for-11 and contributing 2-for-5 from the free-throw line. Ross also demonstrated defensive prowess with four steals and one block. Sharayah Johnson secured 14 points and 7 rebounds. Tahjea Smith achieved a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds, showcasing defensive skills with two blocks and two steals.

Alexis Brown orchestrated the offense with an impressive ten assists, adding 12 points to the scoreboard. Erynn Williams also made her mark with 11 points and an outstanding 12 steals, contributing to the Pilots' record-setting victory.

The Pilots will be back to action Thursday January 18th as they return to The Dock and face off against the Xavier Gold Rush. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm CT from Shreveport, Louisiana.
