Pilots Fall in Exhibition Game with Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana

Lafayette, Louisiana—In a hard-fought battle on the basketball court, the LSU Shreveport Pilots faced off against the NCAA Division I University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns, ultimately falling short with a final score of 64-46. Due to the exhibition status of the game, there is no effect of the Pilot's record.
The game opened with a competitive first quarter as both teams fought tooth and nail for an early lead. The Pilots managed to keep pace but were outscored by the Cajuns 11-17. Despite the intensity, the Pilots struggled from the field, going 4-for-12, with successful shots coming from beyond the arc and the free-throw line.
The second quarter told a different story as the Ragin Cajuns went to work, stifling the Pilots' offense and limiting them to just seven points. By halftime, the Cajuns had built a substantial lead, with the score standing at 18-32. The Pilots' shooting woes continued in the second quarter, going 3-10 from the field with only one three-point basket.
Refusing to let the game turn into a blowout, the Pilots rallied in the third quarter, putting up 16 points and showing resilience. Despite their efforts, they still found themselves trailing. In the fourth quarter, the Pilots outscored the Ragin Cajuns 12-10, displaying determination and fight until the final buzzer.
For the entire game, the Pilots finished shooting 17-for-52 from the field, including five successful three-pointers and an additional 7 points from the free-throw line. Leading the charge for the Pilots was junior guard Skyler Christmas, who contributed 10 points against her transfer school. Christmas was 3-for-6 from the field, making one three-pointer and sinking three buckets at the free-throw line. Alexis Brown and Derrica Gilbert also made significant contributions, each adding 9 points to the Pilots' total.
While the LSU Shreveport Pilots may have fallen to the University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns, their tenacity and spirited performance demonstrated a determination to compete against tough competition.
The Pilots will be back in action January 4th as they take to the court for a conference match up with the Mustangs of the University of the Southwest. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm from Hobbs, New Mexico.
