Pilots Stifle Generals in Conference Home Opener

Shreveport, Louisiana-- In a hard-fought matchup, the LSU Shreveport Pilots women's basketball team secured a well-deserved victory over the LSU Alexandria Generals, triumphing with a final score of 62-54. With the win the Pilots improve to an overall record of 4-2 and enter conference at 1-0.
Right from the opening tip-off, the Pilots took charge of the game, striving to stifle the Generals at every opportunity. The Pilots asserted their dominance early on, outscoring the Generals 15-10 in the first quarter. They showcased their offensive success, shooting 6-17 from the field, including three successful three-pointers. Meanwhile, the Generals struggled to find their rhythm, going 4-13 from the field with two points at the free-throw line.
Maintaining their momentum, the Pilots continued their strong performance in the second quarter, winning the period 19-9 and heading into halftime with a commanding 34-19 lead. The Pilots extended their success, going 8-19 from the field with an additional three three-pointers.
The third quarter saw a resilient effort from the Generals as they implemented a high-press defense to narrow the gap created by the Pilots. Despite the Generals' defensive efforts, the Pilots managed to outscore them 17-15 in the quarter, going 4-10 from the field, sinking one three-pointer, and converting eight free throws.
As the game entered the final quarter, the Generals rallied, compiling 20 points, and holding the Pilots to just 11. However, their comeback fell short, and the Pilots ultimately secured the win with a final score of 62-54.
In a game where defense played a crucial role, Tyquanna Ross emerged as the lone Pilot to score in double digits, contributing 12 points for the team. Ross displayed efficiency, going 6-10 from the field and playing a pivotal role in the Pilots' victory.
The Pilots will be back in action Saturday December 2nd as they take on the Wildcats of conference opponent Louisiana Christian. Tip-off is set for 2:00pm CT from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
