Pilots Suffer Defeat to No. 23 Rust College

Holly Springs, Mississippi-- In a hard-fought basketball matchup, the LSU Shreveport Pilots faced off against the Rust College Bearcats, ultimately falling short with a final score of 57-74. The Pilots entered the game with determination, ready to take on the Bearcats on the court. With the loss the Pilots move to 2-2 on their season.

The first quarter saw the Pilots trailing as the Bearcats took an early lead, finishing the quarter with a score of 15-20. Despite their efforts, the Pilots struggled with their shooting, managing a 31.8% success rate from the field, and connecting on just one three-pointer.

As the second quarter unfolded, the Pilots managed to tighten the game, but the Bearcats still outscored them 16-14. The Pilots improved their field goal percentage to 6-16, adding another three-pointer to their tally. However, they only managed to secure one point at the free-throw line, going into halftime with a score of 29-36.

The Pilots fought back in the third quarter, outscoring the Bearcats 17-15. They found success in both field goals and free throws, shooting 4-11 from the field with one three-pointer and making eight free throws. Meanwhile, the Bearcats struggled to maintain their lead, shooting 5-15 from the field, making one three-pointer, and going 4-12 from the free-throw line.

Unfortunately for the Pilots, they couldn't hold on in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats added 23 points to their tally, limiting the Pilots to just 11. Despite the team's effort, they fell short in their quest for victory.

Tahjea Smith led the Pilots with an impressive performance, contributing 12 points by shooting 4-9 from the field, making two three-pointers, and going a perfect 2-2 from the free-throw line. Tyquanna Ross also made a notable contribution with ten points, shooting 4-7 from the field, connecting on one three-pointer, and adding an extra point from the free-throw line. Despite the individual achievements, the Pilots couldn't overcome the Bearcats in this challenging matchup.

The Pilots will be back in action Friday November 17th as they face Philander Smith. Tipoff is set for 5:00pm from Little Rock, Arkansas.
