Bio
Adam Kay, a native of Bristol, England, was named head coach of the LSU Shreveport (LSUS) Men’s Soccer program in April 2023. In just two seasons, Kay has transformed the program into a national contender, achieving historic milestones and building a culture of excellence on and off the field.
The 2024 season marked a new high point. The Pilots posted an impressive 14-4-4 overall record, remaining undefeated in RRAC play at 11-0-2 and securing the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Despite a narrow semifinal defeat to Louisiana Christian University, Kay kept the team focused, guiding LSUS to another NAIA National Tournament appearance. There, they defeated Mid-America Christian University 4-1 in the second round and advanced to the tournament’s final site in Wichita, Kansas, reaching the Round of 16 for the first time in program history. The Pilots capped off the year ranked No. 13 in the NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Postseason Poll.
In his debut 2023 season, Kay led the Pilots to the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Regular Season Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament, where LSUS advanced to the second round. Four student-athletes earned RRAC All-Conference First Team honors under his leadership, and standout player Jake Strachan was named to the NAIA All-American Third Team, a prestigious individual recognition that underscored the program's rapid ascent.
Before joining LSUS, Kay served as the Associate Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Davis & Elkins College, where he helped guide the Senators to a #1 national ranking, a 16-3-1 record, and a deep NCAA Division II Tournament run that ended in the third round against the eventual national champions.
Kay’s coaching career is rooted in his success as a former student-athlete at Southwestern Christian University (SCU), where he played from 2010–2014. During his collegiate career, he earned three All-Conference and three All-NCCAA selections. He graduated with a B.S. in Health, Physical Education, and Sports Management, and later earned his MBA from Mid-America Christian University (MACU).
His coaching journey began at MACU as an assistant, where he played a key role in the team’s 2018 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Championship. He returned to SCU in 2019, first as an assistant and then as head coach. In his first season in charge, he led SCU to an 11-2-4 record, their first SAC title, and earned SAC Coach of the Year honors.
Kay has also gained valuable experience at the semi-professional level, coaching in USL League Two with the Des Moines Menace (Deep North Division champions) and with Oklahoma City 1889 FC in the NPSL, where the team captured both conference and regional championships. At the high school level, he guided Bishop McGuinness to a 5A state finals appearance and Putnam City High School to the 6A state semifinals.
With championship pedigree, a commitment to player development, and a proven ability to elevate programs, Adam Kay quickly established himself as one of the premier coaches in NAIA men’s soccer and continues to raise the bar for the LSUS Pilots.
