Pilots Fall 2-1 at Louisiana Christian to Close Regular Season

PINEVILLE, La. – The No. 7 LSU Shreveport men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-1 to Louisiana Christian University on the road in Pineville, La. The setback ends the Pilots' regular season at 12-1-5 overall and 10-1 in Red River Athletic Conference play.

After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats struck early in the second frame when Ezra Williams scored his first goal of the season in the 48th minute off an assist from Aran Vivar. Louisiana Christian doubled its lead in the 72nd minute when Thiago Lopes connected on a pass from Williams to make it 2-0.

The Pilots continued to press in the closing moments, breaking through in the 89th minute when Jack Thomas found the back of the net unassisted for his 17th goal of the season. The late surge wasn't enough to overcome the deficit as time expired.

Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes went the full 90 minutes in goal for LSUS, allowing two scores. LCU's Richard Gross played 89 minutes with six saves and one goal allowed before Octavio Morini entered for the final 24 seconds of regulation.

With the regular season complete, the Pilots now turn their attention to the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament as they begin their postseason title defense.
