Thomas Hat Trick Fuels No. 11 Pilots Past Texas A&M-Texarkana, 4-2

TEXARKANA, Texas — Despite a lengthy weather delay that pushed kickoff back more than two hours, No. 11 LSU Shreveport men's soccer stayed composed and came away with a 4-2 road victory over Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday evening.

The Pilots improve to 10-0-5 overall and remain unbeaten in Red River Athletic Conference play at 8-0, while the Eagles drop to 5-5-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the RRAC.

Jack Thomas wasted no time setting the tone, scoring less than two minutes into the match on an unassisted effort to give LSUS the early advantage. Thomas doubled the lead in the 23rd minute with another solo strike, sending the Pilots into halftime ahead 2-0.

Thomas completed his hat trick in the 70th minute, finishing off a pass from Joel Trueb to make it 3-0. Caleb Marchany added his first goal of the season just seven minutes later, assisted by Thomas, to stretch the lead to 4-0.

The Eagles made a late push, getting goals from Arturo Araiza (77') and John Candelo (84'), but the Pilots' early dominance proved too much to overcome.

In goal, Sondre Liahagen-Kolnes went the full 90 minutes, allowing two goals while making three saves. TAMUT's David Yearwood took the loss, conceding four goals and recording two saves.

The Pilots will return home on Thursday, October 23, to host LSU Alexandria in The Swamp. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
