Pilots Extend Conference Dominance with 3-1 Victory Over Mustangs

SHREVEPORT, LA – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots continued their dominance in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC), defeating the University of the Southwest Mustangs, 3-1, on Thursday afternoon. With the win, LSUS improves to 9-2-3 overall and remains undeafeted in RRAC play with an impressive 8-0-1 record.

The Pilots opened the scoring in the 35th minute when David Vejsmose found the back of the net, thanks to a well-placed assist from Jack Thomas. Less than a minute later, the Pilots struck again as Thomas himself scored off an assist from Alex Golder in the 36th minute, giving LSUS a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

The Mustangs cut into the deficit in the 60th minute with a goal from Nicolas Amparan, bringing the score to 2-1. However, LSUS sealed the victory late in the match when Jack Thomas tallied his second goal of the game in the 84th minute, assisted by Vejsmose.

Pilots' goalkeeper Kyle McIeish delivered a standout performance, recording nine saves to help secure the win. On the other side, Jeremy Rueda had six saves for the Mustangs.

LSUS will return to action on Saturday, October 19, as they host Paul Quinn College for Senior Day at The Swamp.
