Pilots Stay Unbeaten in Conference with Dominant 6-1 Victory Over Louisiana Christian

PINEVILLE, La. — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots continued their strong form in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC), defeating Louisiana Christian University (LCU) 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Pilots improve to 8-2-3 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 7-0-1.

Joel Trueb opened the scoring for the Pilots in the 11th minute, finishing off a well-placed assist from Alex Golder to give LSUS an early 1-0 lead. The Pilots doubled their advantage at the 19th minute after an LCU own goal.

Coming out of halftime with a 2-0 lead, the Pilots quickly extended their dominance. Jack Thomas found the back of the net twice within two minutes, scoring in the 51st and 52nd minutes, with Guillermo Ferreiro assisting on the second. David Vejsmose added two more goals, striking in the 71st and 79th minutes, both set up by his teammates. Trueb assisted on the first, while Ferreiro collected his second assist of the day on the latter.

LCU managed to get on the board in the 60th minute with a goal from Sergio Pita Martin, assisted by Tarik Abdala. However, the Wildcats couldn't build on the momentum, and LSUS closed out the match in dominant fashion.

In goal for the Pilots, Kyle McIeish had a solid performance, playing the full 90 minutes and recording three saves. Rodrigo Silva stood in goal for the Wildcats but finished without a save in the match.

LSUS will look to extend their unbeaten run in conference play when they return to action on Thursday, October 17, at 3:30 p.m., hosting the University of the Southwest at The Swamp.
