ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) men's soccer team fought to a hard-earned 2-2 draw against in-state rival Louisiana State University Alexandria (LSUA) on Thursday afternoon. The result brings the Pilots to 7-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) standings.
The Generals struck first, as Pablo Dominguez de Leon netted two quick goals in the 24th and 32nd minutes, giving LSUA an early 2-0 lead. Despite being down at halftime, the Pilots rallied in the second half.
LSUS broke through in the 51st minute when Liam Vivian found the back of the net, cutting the Generals' lead to 2-1. The momentum shifted further in the Pilots' favor in the 80th minute, when Guillermo Ferreiro scored the equalizer off a well-placed assist from Caleb Marchany.
In goal, Kyle McIeish delivered a solid performance for LSUS, making two crucial saves to keep the game within reach. On the other side, Valeriu Tarlev stood tall for LSUA, finishing the match with four saves.
The Pilots next stop is Pineville, La. to go head-to-head with the Louisiana Christian University on Saturday, Oct. 12. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
