Thomas Scores Twice as Pilots Down Jaguars

SHREVEPORT, LA – The LSUS Pilots men's soccer team secured a thrilling 2-1 victory against the Texas A&M San Antonio Jaguars on Saturday, improving their overall record to 3-2-2 and maintaining an undefeated start in Red River Athletic Conference play at 2-0-0.

The match kicked off with both teams exchaning shots and physcial play, but it was the Jaguars who struck first. In the 24th minute, TAMUSA played a long ball from their back line that found it's way over the top of the Pilots defense to an open Jaguar resulting in the first goal of the match.

The Pilots responded in the second half with a surge of energy. Jack Thomas equalized in the 71st minute, scoring off an assist from Guillermo Ferreiro. The momentum shifted as LSUS continued to press forward, leading to Thomas's second goal of the night in the 84th minute when he broke free off a Jaguars corner kick leaving the defense in the dust while also beating the keeper 1v1 to break the tie. The goal was assisted by Joel Trueb.

Goalkeeper Kyle McLeish played a crucial role, making several key saves to keep the Pilots in the game. His standout performance included stops against multiple Jaguar shots, ensuring the Pilots maintained their composure under pressure.

The Pilots will aim to extend their winning streak as they prepare for their next match against Houston Victoria on the road next Thursday.
