Men's Soccer Begins Conference Play with a Win

SHREVEPORT, LA – The LSUS Pilots kicked off their conference season with an exhilarating victory, defeating the OLLU Saints 2-1 in a tightly contested match at The Swamp on Thursday afternoon. The win moves LSUS's record to 2-2-2 overall and 1-0-0 in Red River play.

The match kicked off with high intensity, and the Pilots took an early lead in the 10th minute when forward Joel Trueb found the net with a stunning strike from outside the box. The home crowd erupted, energizing the Pilots as they pressed for a second goal.

Despite the early setback, the Saints responded fiercely and managed to equalize in the 72nd minute. Alessandro Sierra converted a penalty kick after being fouled in the box, leveling the score at 1-1.

However, the Pilots maintained their composure and retook the lead just nine minutes later. Brandon Gasper scored the decisive goal in the 81st minute, capitalizing on a defensive error and slotting the ball past Saints goalkeeper Dominic Pena.

Throughout the match, both teams displayed relentless energy. LSUS goalkeeper Kyle Mcleish made crucial saves throughout the match securing the victory for the Pilots.

LSUS returns to action on Saturday where they face the Jaguars of Texas A&M San Antonio at 3:30pm at The Swamp.
