Pilots Fall to Williams Baptist

SHREVEPORT, LA –The LSU Shreveport Pilots faced a challenging test on the pitch today, falling 0-2 to the Williams Baptist Eagles in a hard-fought matchup at The Swamp. With the defeat, the Pilots' record now stands at 1-2-2 for the 2024 season.

The Pilots had an early opportunity with Alex King's shot saved by Williams Baptist goalkeeper Rodrigo Pina just 2 minutes into the game. Despite a solid defensive performance and several attempts on goal, including a shot from Joel Trub that went high and a crossbar hit from Guillermo Ferreiro in the first half, the Pilots were unable to find the back of the net.

Williams Baptist was able to break the tie in the 52nd minute with a goal, putting the Eagles ahead 1-0. They extended their lead in the 56th minute with a second goal.

The match saw a series of substitutions and challenges, with LSUS threatening several times. Despite multiple corner kicks and efforts from the Pilots, including a shot by Kodai Tanaka that was blocked, they could not close the gap.

The Pilots will begin conference play next Thursday, September 19th versus OLLU at The Swamp. LSUS is the reining conference champion and will look to begin their title defense next week.
