Bartlesville, Oklahoma— In a hard-fought battle, the LSU Shreveport Pilots saw their soccer season come to an end in the NAIA National tournament second round, falling 1-0 to the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles. With the loss the team ends their season with 16-6-1.
The first half was tightly contested, with both teams vying for possession. The Pilots took three shots while the Eagles took four, resulting in a halftime deadlock of 0-0, leaving both teams eager for victory.
The intensity continued in the second half as the two teams remained evenly matched. Unfortunately for the Pilots, a pivotal moment occurred in the 71st minute when an unfortunate foul in their own box resulted in a penalty kick for the Eagles, leading to the decisive goal. Despite their efforts, the Pilots were unable to find the equalizer.
The second half saw the Pilots being outshot 5-4, and with that, their season came to a close. It was a hard-fought journey in the NAIA National tournament, and though they faced a setback in this match, the Pilots displayed resilience and determination throughout their season.
