Pilots Get Shutout by the Gold Rush

New Orleans, Louisiana —In a challenging soccer matchup, the LSU Shreveport Pilots men's soccer team faced a tough opponent in the Xavier Gold Rush and ultimately fell short, with a final score of 3-0. With the loss the Pilots fall to a conference record of 3-2 and hold an overall record of 5-4-1.

The Pilots got off to a rocky start, struggling to contain the Gold Rush's offensive prowess. Xavier wasted no time, as they netted their first goal in the 22nd minute of the game, setting the tone for the match. The Gold Rush continued to apply pressure, and in the 39th minute, they struck again, extending their lead to 2-0. The Pilots found themselves trailing at halftime, having been outshot by the Gold Rush with a significant margin, 7-1.

In the second half, the Pilots showed resilience and determination as they attempted to level the shot count and mount a comeback. They managed to put up five shots on goal, demonstrating their fighting spirit. However, the Gold Rush remained a formidable opponent, matching the Pilots with six shots of their own in the second half.

Despite the Pilots' efforts to get back into the game, the Gold Rush managed to capitalize once more. In the 84th minute, they scored their third and final goal, sealing their victory.

The Pilots will be back in action Saturday September 30th as they travel to Stafford, Texas to take on the Mustangs of North American University. Kick off is set for 3:30pm.
