Washington Named RRAC Defensive Player of the Week

SHREVEPORT, La. – LSUS senior forward Tyler Washington has been named the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Defensive Player of the Week for his standout performances from Feb. 10-16.

Washington anchored the Pilots' defense, recording six blocks and pulling down 18 defensive rebounds across two crucial victories over Texas A&M-San Antonio and Our Lady of the Lake (Texas). The Delhi, La., native swatted three shots in each contest while also showcasing his offensive prowess, averaging 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during the week.

Currently, Washington ranks fifth in the conference in total defensive rebounds with 115 on the season. His dominant presence on both ends of the floor has helped propel LSUS to a 14-9 conference record and 17-10 overall as the team makes its push toward postseason play.

The Pilots will look to keep their momentum rolling as they close out the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 20 against LSU Alexandria at The Dock on Senior Night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
