Pilots Fall to Louisiana Christian University, 93-79

PINEVILLE, La. — The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots fell to the Louisiana Christian University (LCU) Wildcats, 93-79, on Saturday afternoon in a tough road matchup.
Despite the loss, the Pilots showcased strong individual performances. Tyler Washington led all scorers with a stellar 28-point outing, adding five rebounds to his stat line. Taj Anderson contributed 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Davion Coleman posted an all-around effort with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Trey Boston rounded out the top scorers with 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
As a team, LSUS shot 42.6 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from three-point range, and 70.4 percent from the free-throw line.
LCU had a balanced attack, led by Devin Carter with 22 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Omarion Layssard followed with 19 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Joseph Holloway added 13 points, and Chukwuemeke Nwaoshai registered a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Corey Lombard chipped in 10 points and four boards for the Wildcats. The Wildcats shot 53.6 percent from the floor but struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 26.1 percent of their three-point attempts. They converted 56.5 percent of their free throws.
The game saw LCU capitalize on their efficient shooting and rebounding advantage to build and maintain their lead throughout the contest. The Pilots battled to close the gap but were unable to overcome the Wildcats' consistent offensive pressure.
Up next, the Pilots will travel to New Orleans on Tuesday, Jan. 28, to take on Xavier University (La.). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
