Pilots Outlast Texas College in Tight Battle, 92-82

TYLER, Texas – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) men's basketball team emerged victorious Tuesday night in a hard-fought matchup against Texas College, defeating the Steers 92-82. The Pilots and Steers battled back and forth throughout the night, with neither team gaining a decisive edge until the final minutes of play.

LSUS showcased balanced scoring, led by Trey Boston, who poured in 21 points. Taj Anderson followed with 15 points, while Melvion Flanagan and Davion Coleman contributed 14 points each. Devonte Austin added 12 points and grabbed five rebounds, rounding out the double-figure scorers for the Pilots. Meikkel Murray anchored the team on the boards, pulling down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Pilots' bench played a critical role, outscoring Texas College's reserves 24-20. LSUS also dominated on the boards, finishing with a 29-15 rebounding advantage that created second-chance opportunities. Shooting efficiency proved to be another key factor in the Pilots' success, as they converted 66.7 percent of their shots from the field, 57.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 75 percent from the free-throw line.

Texas College was led by Jacob Key, who posted a game-high 29 points and added five rebounds. Romeo Postell contributed 24 points, while Kenneth Montgomery chipped in with 11 points. Despite a strong offensive performance—shooting 59.3 percent from the field and 50.3 percent from three-point range—the Steers fell short in the closing moments.

The win sets the stage for LSUS's next game on Tuesday, January 21, when the Pilots travel to New Orleans to take on Xavier University (La.). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
