Pilots Edge Out Eagles in Triple-Overtime Thriller at The Dock, 120-118

SHREVEPORT, La. – In an instant classic, the Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots men's basketball team emerged victorious in a triple-overtime thriller against the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Eagles on Saturday afternoon. Playing in front of an electric home crowd at The Dock, the Pilots avenged their November 12 road loss to the Eagles with a nail-biting 120-118 victory.

The win improves LSUS's overall record to 11-7 and 8-6 in Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) play. The Pilots showcased resilience, determination, and depth, with seven players scoring in double figures.

Freshman Boldi Varga's clutch bank shot at the end of the second overtime kept the Pilots alive, setting the stage for a decisive third extra period. Trey Boston led the Pilots' offensive charge with a game-high 28 points, adding seven assists and five steals to his stat line. Taj Anderson contributed 20 points and three assists, while Davion Coleman added 17 points and five rebounds.

Melvion Flanagan provided critical support with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Devonte Austin chipped in 15 points and four rebounds, and Meikkel Murray added 12 points and five boards. Tyler Washington recorded a double-double, tallying 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists to round out the balanced attack.

The Pilots shot an impressive 50.6 percent from the field, 43.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line. LSUS also outscored TAMUT's bench 27-16 and built their largest lead of 14 points midway through the second half.

Despite the Eagles' best efforts, the Pilots' depth and late-game heroics proved too much. TAMUT was led by Daryl Houston, who recorded a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Rodney Mason, II added 28 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and five steals, while Deovaunta Williams scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Eagles shot 55 percent from the field but struggled from beyond the arc (30 percent) and the free-throw line (64.9 percent).

The Pilots now shift their focus to Tuesday, January 14, when they travel to Tyler, Texas, to take on Texas College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
