Pilots Edge Out Eagles in Tuesday Night Faceoff

Shreveport, Louisiana— In an exhilarating showdown on Tuesday evening, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle against the Eagles, securing an 89-79 win in a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer. Throughout the contest, both teams traded blows, with neither willing to relent, but it was the Pilots who ultimately prevailed, showcasing their resilience and determination on the court. With the win the Pilots move to an overall record of 18-6 and a conference record of 13-5.

The first half was a tightly contested affair, with the Pilots and Eagles engaged in a back-and-forth battle. At halftime, the Pilots held a narrow lead, edging out the Eagles by just two points with a score of 44-42. In the opening half, the Pilots exhibited their offensive prowess, shooting 16-34 from the field, including six three-pointers, and converting all six of their free-throw attempts. The Eagles matched the Pilots' intensity, shooting 17-30 from the field, also sinking six three-pointers, and going 2-4 at the free-throw line.

Determined to assert their dominance in the second half, the Pilots came out firing on all cylinders, adding 45 more points to their tally. Despite the Eagles' valiant efforts, they were unable to keep pace, managing to put up 37 points in the second half. The Pilots' precision at the free-throw line proved to be a decisive factor in the outcome of the game, as they capitalized on 23 of their 29 attempts, helping them secure the victory over their opponents.

Leading the charge for the Pilots was Paul King, who delivered a standout performance with an impressive 26 points. King showcased his scoring prowess, knocking down seven field goals, including five three-pointers, and converting 7-of-8 free-throw attempts. Right behind him was Jalen King, who contributed 24 points to the Pilots' cause, shooting an efficient 9-of-11 from the field and sinking 6-of-7 free throws. Calvin Carpenter rounded out the trio of Pilots in double digits, chipping in with 16 points, including a crucial three-pointer, and going 5-of-8 from the free-throw line.

With this hard-fought victory, the Pilots of LSU Shreveport demonstrated their mettle and resilience, reaffirming their status as a formidable force in collegiate basketball. The Pilots will be back in action Thursday February 15th as they take head down to New Orleans to face the Gold Rush of Xavier. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm CT from New Orleans, Louisiana.
