Pilot Men's Basketball Falls to Texas College 88-95

Tyler, Texas—In a closely contested matchup, the LSU Shreveport men's basketball team fell short against the Texas College Steers, with a final score of 88-95. With the loss the Pilots move to 17-6 overall and 12-5 in the Red River.

 

The Pilots found themselves trailing early in the game as the Steers took control in the first half, leading 53-43. Texas College shot 19-33 from the field, including four three-pointers, and made 11-14 free throws. Meanwhile, the Pilots went 13-33 from the field, with five made threes and 12-15 free throws.

 

Despite their efforts to rally in the second half, outscoring the Steers 45-42, the Pilots were unable to overcome the 10-point deficit from the first half. Shooting 12-32 from the field, with another five three-pointers, and making 16-19 free throws, the Pilots ultimately fell short, ending the game with a score of 88-95.

 

Despite the loss, four Pilots players scored in double digits, with Paul King leading the way with a season-high 31 points. King shot 7-14 from the field, including three three-pointers, and made an impressive 14-15 free throws. Calvin Carpenter contributed 16 points, shooting 6-11 from the field, including two three-pointers, and making 2-2 free throws. Tyler Washington and Jordan DeCuir added 13 and 11 points respectively, but it wasn't enough to secure the win for the Pilots.

 

The Pilots will be back in action Tuesday February 13th as they take on the Eagles of Texas A&M Texarkana. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
