Pilots Basketball Uses Second Half Comeback to Find Victory

Texarkana, Texas—In a comeback for the ages, the Pilot men's basketball team secured a late second-half victory over the Texas A&M Texarkana Eagles. With the win, the Pilots move to an overall record 15-4 and conference record of 10-3. 

Despite finding themselves down by 14 points, 20-6, just six minutes into the game, the Pilots gradually worked their way back into contention. Trailing 36-43 at the half, the second half became a story of resilience for the Pilots.

In an impressive turnaround, the Pilots scored 53 points in the second half, limiting the Eagles to 40 points. Their sharpshooting was on display, going 17-35 from the field with an impressive 10 three-pointers. Free throws were crucial as well, with the Pilots collecting 9 points at the charity stripe.

Four Pilots made significant contributions in the double digits, with Tyler Washington leading the charge with 21 points. Jordan DeCuir followed closely with 19 points, showcasing his skills with five field goals, four from beyond the arc, and efficient free throw shooting. Melvion Flanagan's sharpshooting from beyond the arc, including four three-pointers, added another dynamic to the Pilots' comeback. Calvin Carpenter rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points, displaying versatility with two three-pointers.

Tyler Washington's performance stood out, going 7-13 from the field, including a three-pointer, and securing nine rebounds along with a steal. The Pilots' collective effort resulted in a remarkable victory, showcasing their resilience and offensive prowess.

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday February 1st as they take on the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
