Pilots Men's Basketball Takes Victory in Heated Saturday Matchup

Pineville, Louisiana—In an exciting faceoff, the LSU Shreveport Pilots secured a 91-83 victory over the Louisiana Christian Wildcats. With the win the Pilots move to an overall record of 14-4 and a conference record of 9-3.

The Pilots took an early lead, accumulating 11 points before the Wildcats scored. Despite the Wildcats working their way back, the Pilots maintained control in the first half, heading into halftime with a 45-42 lead. In the opening half, the Pilots shot 15-30 from the field, including four three-pointers, and made 11-14 free throws. The Wildcats matched their intensity, going 15-32 from the field with five three-pointers and 7-9 made free throws.

The second half remained closely contested, but the Pilots once again outscored the Wildcats 46-41. Tyler Washington led the charge with an impressive 20-point performance, contributing 21 points from six field goals, two three-pointers, and 7 made free throws. Washington also showcased his all-around game with eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Paul King added 13 points, making five field goals, including one three-pointer, and two free throws. Melvin Flanagan, Calvin Carpenter, and Jalen King each contributed 11 points, displaying a balanced offensive effort. Flanagan secured two field goals and seven free throws, Carpenter was 5-9 with one three-pointer, and King went 3-8 from the field while making 5-9 free throws. The collective efforts of the Pilots led to a well-deserved victory.

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday February 1st as they take on the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
