Pilots Drop Second Conference Game to the Steers

Shreveport, Louisiana— In a challenging contest, the LSU Shreveport Pilots faced a tough defeat against the Steers, finishing with a score of 92-73. With the loss the Pilots move to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in conference.

 

The Pilots struggled to gain momentum early in the first half, shooting 12-36 from the field, making 4 three-pointers, and going 1-2 at the free-throw line. This left them trailing 29-38 at halftime.

 

The Steers, on the other hand, displayed efficiency, going 14-23 from the field, making two threes, and converting 8-13 free throws in the first half. 

 

The Pilots were unable to find their rhythm in the second half, and the Steers extended their lead, outscoring the Pilots 54-44.

 

Despite the challenging outcome, three Pilots players managed to score in double digits. Calvin Carpenter led the team with an impressive 25 points, shooting 9-17 from the field and 7-11 at the free-throw line. He also contributed five rebounds and one steal. Melvion Flanagan added 18 points, going 5-11 from the field, making four three-pointers, and recording 4-7 from the free-throw line, along with an impressive 5 steals. Jordan DeCuir recorded 13 points, showcasing his three-point prowess with three successful shots and adding two steals to the effort.

 

The Pilots will be back to action Thursday January 18th as they return to The Dock and face off against the Xavier Gold Rush. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm CT from Shreveport, Louisiana.
