Pilot Men's Basketball Kenneled Bulldogs with 78-67 Victory

Shreveport, Louisiana— In an intense matchup, the LSU Shreveport Pilots' men's basketball team emerged victorious against the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs with a final score of 78-67. With the win the Pilots move to an overall record of 11-2 and a conference record of 6-1.

The Pilots faced an early deficit, falling behind 6-2 in the first half. However, they quickly rallied and engaged in a back-and-forth battle with the Bulldogs, exchanging the lead for the initial eight minutes of the half. Once the Pilots found their rhythm, they took control of the game and proved unstoppable. Heading into halftime with a substantial lead of 45-32, the Pilots showcased their offensive prowess by going 17-for-33 from the field, including four three-pointers, and converting 7-of-9 free throws. In contrast, the Bulldogs were 14-37 in the first half, with two threes and two made free throws.

The Bulldogs intensified their physical play in the second half, attempting to keep the Pilots at bay. Although the Pilots were outscored 35-33 in the half, their significant lead from the first half ultimately secured the victory. Five Pilots players contributed significantly, each scoring in double digits. Melvion Flanagan led the charge with an impressive 18 points, netting six buckets, including three three-pointers, and going 3-for-4 at the free-throw line. James Ellis followed closely with 14 points, showcasing his scoring ability with seven field goals and contributing five rebounds.

Paul King and Tyler Washington both added 11 points to the Pilots' tally. King, shooting 2-for-6 from the field with a three-pointer, displayed accuracy at the free-throw line, going a perfect 6-for-6. Washington went 4-for-5, including two three-pointers, and contributed three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Josh Leblanc rounded out the double-digit scorers, securing a double-double with ten points and an impressive 13 rebounds. LeBlanc also contributed defensively with one block and one steal.

The Pilots' well-rounded team effort, combined with standout individual performances, propelled them to a hard-fought victory over the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs, showcasing their resilience and skill on the basketball court.

The Pilots will be back in action Saturday January 13th as they take on the Steers of Texas College. Tip-off is set for 4:00pm CT from The Dock in Shreveport, Louisiana.
