Pilots Fall For the First Time in Conference

Dallas, Texas — In a closely contested matchup, the LSU Shreveport Pilot men's basketball team faced a tough battle against the Paul Quinn Tigers, ultimately falling short with a final score of 78-81. . This marks the Pilots' first conference loss of the year, bringing their overall record to 10-2 and their conference record to 5-1.
The Tigers asserted their dominance early, maintaining a lead throughout the game and heading into halftime with a 41-32 advantage.
Despite the halftime deficit, the Pilots emerged from the locker room in the second half with determination to narrow the gap. As the clock winded down, the Pilots managed to trim the lead to just three points, but couldn't complete the comeback.
In terms of shooting performance, the Pilots went 27-62 from the field, while the Tigers shot 29-55. The Pilots made five three-pointers compared to the Tiger's six. Jordan DeCuir led the scoring effort for the Pilots with an impressive 16 points, including two three-pointers and solid free throw shooting. Following closely, Calvin Carpenter contributed 14 points, and James Ellis rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Pilots with 10 points and five rebounds. Despite the loss, the Pilots showcased resilience and a competitive spirit throughout the game.
The Pilots will be back to action Thursday January 11th as they return to The Dock and face off against the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm CT from Shreveport, Louisiana.
