Pilot Men's Basketball Mounts Comeback to Victory

Shreveport, Louisiana—In an intense basketball showdown, the LSU Shreveport Pilots secured a thrilling late-game victory over the Loyola (N.O.) Wolfpack with a final score of 78-74. With the win the Pilots remain undefeated with an overall record of 7-0.

The early minutes of the game saw both teams tightly interlocked in a fierce battle, exchanging blows as they fought for control on the court. However, as the first half progressed, the Wolfpack managed to create some distance with a ten-point run.

As the halftime buzzer sounded, the Pilots found themselves trailing 34-46. The Pilots had gone 14-32 from the field with three successful three-pointers, while the Wolfpack shot 19-33, connecting on seven three-pointers.

Determined to turn the tide, the Pilots emerged in the second half with a renewed sense of purpose. A remarkable five-point run and a 12-point run propelled them back into contention, narrowing the gap to just two points with just over eight minutes left in the game. Damon Davis played a pivotal role in the comeback, making a crucial lay-up, followed by a significant steal and another lay-up to tie the game at 68-68. Davis then added a third lay-up, giving the Pilots the lead at 70-68.

The Pilots managed to run down the clock and secure the hard-fought victory with a final score of 78-74. The game showcased their determination and resilience in the face of adversity. 

Five Pilots made significant contributions, each scoring in double digits. Damon Davis led the way with 15 points, going 5-8 from the field and a perfect 5-5 at the free-throw line. Davis also made valuable contributions with seven rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Paul King added 14 points, shooting an impressive 6-8 from the field with two three-pointers, and contributing five assists and one steal. Calvin Carpenter chipped in with 11 points, while Jalen King and Melvion Flanagan both added ten points to round out a well-balanced offensive effort.

The Pilots' late-game heroics and collective scoring effort resulted in a memorable victory over the Wolfpack, showcasing their ability to rally and emerge triumphant in the face of adversity.
